Sindy

This old girl is slowly learning some new tricks. And no small feat, considering what Sindy has been through.
All her life, she lived in a small outdoor pen as the "companion" animal to a mentally disabled and economically challenged couple. But nobody petted her or interacted with her. Truly, Sindy spent her first ten years living on the verge of dying.
But now Sindy is safe and sound at Best Friends and for the first time, enjoying life. She's learned that playing is part of life as a dog. Sindy thinks toys are great fun, but will drop them in a hurry as soon as someone comes over to give her some attention. See, Sindy has also learned that people give love. And boy, does she love love!
Sindy isn't perfect: She still can't quite believe that food will always be there for her, so she never finishes her meal to save some eats for later, just in case --- one of her survival tricks that she can't quite let go of just yet. She also can't quite believe affection is a natural part of her life, so Sindy really sticks to people when they come by to pet her.
Sindy can't live with other animals. She'd thrive in a quiet home with one or two adults. And after all she's been through, doesn't this old girl deserve to live out the rest of her life in love and comfort?

Ghost

A sweet, sensitive soul.This Ghost is more likely to be scared than to scare somebody else. He's not sure how close he should let people come, sometimes. But once he's comfortable with someone, just loves to be petted. And he's got a soft, ultra-silky coat that's a joy to touchGhost is about five, and was living as a stray in Arizona, along with his brother. A lady used to leave food and water out for the pair. But one day, she learned that a neighbor was going to go out, try to find those stray dogs, and shoot them. So she went out and caught them! And they were able to come to Best Friends. Ghost's brother liked being at the sanctuary, adjusted quickly, and found a home. But poor Ghost was so used to being a stray dog, he was slow to learn the ways of living with people. And nobody wanted to pick him.But he's starting to let the people he knows get close to him - and pet his velvety fur. He's healthy and kind-hearted. He's just shy. But he's hoping you'll think about him, and that maybe his chance will come.

Tipper

"Is it too late for an older girl?"
Tipper lived most of her life outside in a yard, and then she was given up completely. It's hard to believe someone wouldn't want this happy, friendly dog, but she's been looking for a forever home for quite some time now.
It would mean a lot for her to be able to live out her golden years in a real home with somebody who really wants her. She just craves attention and she loves toys. The more, the better!
With other dogs, she rules the roost. And she can get a little `mouthy' when she plays, so she might be best off in a home with big people.

About Tabitha
Melted chocolate, soulful eyes.
Tabitha is a very demure lady. In new situations, she's a bit timid. But take a few moments to be with her, and you'll soon see she's the most huggable girl around. Make sure you're talking to her, and not about her - gossip offends her, and Tabitha will walk away. When you do have her attention, give her lots of cuddling and kisses. She loves knowing you appreciate her sweetness.
When she's not snuggling, Tabitha enjoys her playtime with her long friend Boo. She likes to take walks where she can sniff out scurrying lizards, and explore the rocks. She's been at Best Friends quite a while, and she's starting to get that sad feeling that nobody's ever going to pick her.
She lost her home when her people moved and couldn't take the doggie with them. Is there hope for something new for her?

I'm very excited to be associated with Best Friends Society and be able to bring you the faces of their Labs.
